What is community tourism?

In community tourism, the focus is on cultural exchange with the local communities. Guests experience the visited destination in an authentic and unique way, far away from mass tourism.

 

Community tourism activities and offers are provided and organized by the locals of the destination visited. This can be, for example, overnight stays in homestays, or in the case of agritourism offers, guests can experience a night on a farm.  

 

Community tourism enables an authentic insight into the everyday life of the local population and their handicrafts, traditions and gastronomy. The residents earn an income and the visitors contribute sustainably to the economic and social development of the visited place.
